In the world of electric bicycles, technological advancements are constantly shaping the riding experience. One such innovation that has taken the e-bike scene by storm is the integration of electronic shifting. Let’s delve into the benefits of adding electronic shifting to your e-bike and see how it enhances the overall riding experience.
Electronic shifting provides a seamless and effortless gear transition, making it easier for riders to switch gears without breaking their stride. This is especially beneficial during intense rides or when navigating steep hills. With traditional mechanical shifting, riders often have to apply extra force and concentration to shift gears, which can be distracting and affect the flow of the ride. Electronic shifting eliminates this issue, allowing riders to focus on the road and enjoy a smoother riding experience.
Electronic shifting systems are designed to provide precise gear selection, ensuring that riders are always in the optimal gear for the terrain and riding conditions. This helps to maximize the efficiency of the e-bike’s motor and battery, leading to improved range and performance. Riders can simply press a button or toggle a switch to shift gears, without having to fumble with levers or cables.
Electronic shifting systems are also known for their enhanced durability. Since they rely on electronic sensors and motors to shift gears, there are fewer mechanical components that can wear out or break over time. This means that electronic shifting systems tend to last longer and require less maintenance than traditional mechanical shifting systems.
Many electronic shifting systems come with integrated displays that provide riders with real-time information about their gear selection, battery level, and other relevant data. This information can be invaluable for riders who want to monitor their performance and adjust their riding style accordingly. Additionally, some systems even offer connectivity options that allow riders to connect their e-bike to a smartphone or other devices, providing even more customization and control.
Magene includes electronic shifting for the first time in the system solution. The ED20 small-volume wire actuator solution is small in size, easier to install and hide, and the cycling experience can be upgraded without any bike modification.
Moreover, auto-shifting is also able to be realized on the original plan. Through the self-developed algorithm system, combined with the display and ED20, the system will automatically switch to the appropriate flywheel according to the changes of the riding environment, such as the change of road surface, the increase/decrease of slope, the change of wind resistance, bike starting/stopping, etc., so that the rider can enjoy the ride in different scenes without manual operation. Paying no attention to gear shifting will help riders be more focused on the riding experience and reduce the distraction of shifting to be safer in special scenes.
Adding electronic shifting or even auto-shifting will not only enhance the riding experience but also contribute to the overall efficiency and performance of the e-bike. As technology continues to evolve, we can expect even more innovations in e-bike shifting systems.

Dear Sirs,
I have designed an concept by elektromotor powered linear rear derailleur. I would like to introduce this innovative design concept to your company to review, if you intrested in development and production of this typ of rear derailleur. The innovation is registred at patent office in Slovakia under No. PUV 66-2021 as utility model. I can send it to you with your permission the description and drawings. If you are interested you can send me your feedback.
Thank you very much.
Best Regards
Patrik Kmet
