AI is Shaping the Next Generation of eBikes

AI technology has revolutionized eBike products and R&D, driving enhancements in intelligence, connectivity, performance, safety, and innovation. Here are some examples of how AI has transformed eBike offerings.

Shimano Q’Auto - AI-equipped system

Shimano’s AI-equipped Q’Auto system uses a sensor in a wheel hub, the shifting mechanism, and an 11-speed gear ratio. The system adjusts the speeds based on the rider’s riding habits, while the AI system comes loaded with various riding patterns based on the test ride data. The AI system also learns from the speed and the inclines a rider would normally choose to select the right gears.

Acer ebii E-bike with AI-driven

The bike’s AI-powered ebiiAssist function adapts to the rider’s pedaling power, riding conditions, and preferred level of assistance, while intelligently adapting over time for a more personalized experience. During rides, the controller leverages its AI technology to automatically adjust motor output to provide effortless riding based on users’ pedaling and route environment.

Talk to your Urtopia bike

The Urtopia Smartbar provides ChatGPT through LTE and Bluetooth, which is connected to your smartphone with direct interactions between the rider and the e-bike. These connections take place via voice commands. A smartphone is not required to take advantage of the ChatGPT integration. Activate the voice commands, tell the bike where you would like to ride, and provide a distance. ChatGPT and the bike's connectivity will then find the best bike route that meets your needs. You will then be guided along that route, both visually on the display and via spoken commands.

AI Object Detection ebike

Orbic announced the world's first 5G enabled eBike equipped with AI object avoidance and collision detection technology. Orbic's new technology actively monitors the rear surroundings of the eBike and alerts riders to potential hazards, such as oncoming vehicles. The 5G e-Bike, capable of reaching up to 45km/h*, incorporates an advanced AI avoidance detection system that leverages a sensor with a 140 degree field of view strategically placed on the rear of the bike.

As the technology continues to evolve, we can expect even more sophisticated and user-centric eBike offerings, further solidifying the role of AI in shaping the future of transportation.
